Megan Jones
Megan wishes she studied ballet and gymnastics from the age of 2 years so that she could be as flexible as Eugenia Parrilla and Mariana Montes. She enjoys dancing tango de salon in the milongas and hopes to encourage students to appreciate excellent technique while developing their own individual style. Megan has a sound understanding of music theory and musicality through studying piano, completing her AMEB Grade 8, as well as clarinet, playing in the Elder Conservatorium Wind Ensemble, and the viola.
Mark Stojani
Mark began dancing tango in 2000. After 3 enjoyable years learning at Southern Cross Tango, he decided it was time to move on and began taking lessons at Siempre Tango under the tutelage of the school’s founder, Carlo Sansour. Carlo’s style, musicality and smooth panther-like movement impressed Mark greatly and became a major inspiration to his dancing. Mark has also undertaken classes with Cosmotango teachers ; Mario Consiglieri, Pablo Inza and Cecelia Gonzalez. He continues to be inspired by modern day masters such as Mariano “Chicho” Frumboli, Pablo Veron, Julio Balmaceda, Gustavo Naivera and Fabian Salas. But, his main inspirations are the women he dances with and the music.
While he finds it difficult to narrow down his favorite music to dance to he gets itchy feet when he hears old-school Canaro, Di Sarli, D’Arienzo, Biagi, D’Agostino and D’Angelis. Of the new crowd he prefers Carlos Libedinsky, Bajofondo Tango Club, Tanghetto.
He commenced teaching late 2004 under the watchful eye of Carlo Sansour and continues to enjoy not only teaching the students of Siempre Tango, but also learning from them.
Ben Thoman
Ben started dancing tango in 2002 with Southern Cross Tango, and from 2003 with Carlo Sansour. During 2004 and 2005 he underwent intensive teacher and performance training under Carlo’s guidance. Ben’s background is predominantly in the Salon style but he enjoys experimenting with other styles. Ben never tires of watching the Cosmotango series of DVDs, finding the styles and techniques of Sebastian Arce, Julio Balmaceda and Chicho particularly inspiring.
Ben’s musical preferences are varied, but he’s currently enjoying D’Arienzo, Di Sarli and Canaro (particularly from the 1930s). He also enjoys a wide variety of “Neo Tango” music, including Bajofondo, Libedinsky, Kevin Johansen and Esteban Morgado, to name a few.
His teaching style is evolving with his dancing, and along with his fellow teachers at Siempre Tango he’s currently emphasising close embrace and connection.
When not dancing Ben is probably tweaking the appearance of this website…
