Graphic Design

Updated: 15:31, Friday 8 June 2007 by Andrew Gibki

The Siempre Tango logo was designed by Andrew Gibki in January 2006. It was originally sketched out on paper and then traced into Adobe Illustrator for the finishing touches.

The logo was inspired by the image of two dancers locked in a typical Argentine Tango salon embrace.

Both the logo and type have been designed to suggest movement while keeping the typography bold suggests a strong new direction for the Association. The “flame dancers” branding has proven to be a powerful visual element and it has been prominent even when presented by itself in our advertisements and other creative materials.

To celebrate the launch of the new branding, a special milonga was held on 21 January 2006 at the Oxford Hotel in North Adelaide. The branding was launched in great style (and a bit of mystery) with a movie clip created by Mark Stojani and Ben Lewis projected onto the big screen. There were performances to the theme of Carlos Di Sarli pieces and the night also marked the début of Ben Thoman as a DJ for Siempre Tango. Read more about the night here.
