We’ve all heard those things about tango; that it’s sensual, that it’s got seedy origins, and so on. But tango as the “unofficial national dance of Finland”? Here’s a radio program on music and fashion that spends a bit of time discussing tango. It’s also a program about other kinds of dancing that were fashionable (and scandalous) in their time. The waltz? Scandalous?! Hear for yourself, or read the transcript, on Radio National’s Into The Music.
(Stuff on tango is about forty minutes in, but the whole thing’s pretty interesting.)
