In today’s Weekend Australian Magazine, Dr Michael Valenzuela exhorts people to ‘take up Tai-chi, tango dancing or learn a new language’ – doing something that is fun and involves ‘long term social, physical and mental activities.’ He also points out the benefit of sticking with the activity long term, stating that ‘if you want to get a benefit, you’re really going to have to sustain it for the rest of your life.’ Dr Valenzuela is a neuroscience researcher with the University of New South Wales. So, do you need any more reason to dance tango, learn to speak Spanish and unwind your muscles with Tai Chi?? Ok, maybe just the tango….
