The big night arrived and dancers flocked to see Tango Tradición play for the very first time. Leila Kelleher (viola), Harley Gray (double bass), and Bruce Stewart (accordion), musicians with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, together with Peter Kay (piano) from Melbourne, played three fabulous sets of tango, vals and milonga.
30 people arrived early to enjoy Cafe Tempo’s delicious food, while another 50 dancers came along after 9:30pm to see the new tango venue, the foyer of the ASO’s Grainger Studio. Ellen Rosenfeld, Claire MacKenzie and Mark Stojani spent the afternoon arranging the space together with assistance from venue manager Kingsley Schmidtke and lighting whiz Stephen Martin.
DJ Stojani played a mix of music between sets that kept everybody moving, and thanks go also to Imogen Selley and Ben Thoman for their performances, danced to Recuerdo and Desde del Alma. Many thanks as well to Renato and the Cafe Tempo staff for their service during the evening. Our extra special gratitude goes to Di Kidd who made the event possible. And a final thankyou to Andrew Gibki for reformatting the tickets.
We hope you enjoyed a new venue, a great new band, and thank those people who provided encourgament and support. It certainly makes it worthwhile organising such events when people provide positive feedback and obviously enjoy the evening!

My husband and I popped in to see some of what we have heard so much about, people enjoying dancing. It was great to see.
I would like to pay particular tribute, though, to the person who made us feel so welcome.
It would have been easy to have allowed us to drift in and out without anyone responding, and we would have understood that, had it happened.
Thank you Ellie / Elle (I DO hope I have repaid the good will by remembering your name correctly).
Judith, for us both.
