At last Adelaide can boast about its own, truly vibrant tango festival. All of us who took even the smallest part in it would have gone away enthused by the range of the teaching couples & quality of the workshops, as well as the seamless organisation that permeated 4 hectic days of day-night activity. Siempre Tango has shown that Adelaide can do it, and hopefully it will happen again & again, so that those who missed out will feel encouraged to throw themselves into it in future. Congratulations to everyone who played a part in the organisation. At 17:38 on Wednesday, 26 April 2006 Colleen said:
Firstly thank you to all involved, it was a terrifc Festival and a great mix of classes, milongas and social activities. I personally learnt a lot and I especially gain a lot from the technique classes esp womens technique- these tips about posture (eg holding my mid-area as if someone is about to punch me in the stomach! – thanks Lisa) and strengthening/pilates type exercises were terrific. I really enjoyed having the variety of teachers as well who were very inspiring – from Lisa’s great technique session, to Pedro’s direction changes and who could forget the amazing Baile performances.Tangomania got me thinking about our class structures. It would be great as part of Siempre’s regular teaching program to have some more specific class series like the type of topics you had as part of Tangomania to add to the ongoing teaching blocks building on from the couple you have run previously like the leading ladies and milonga classes- eg more milonga, womens technique, and others topics dealt with at Tangomania. They may be only small teaching blocks of 2 – 4 weeks or the occassional afternoon on a weekend. This should not replace ongoing classes but provide students of intermediate/advanced standard with opportunities to focus on some specifics. I know getting enough interest to justify extra sessions may be an issue but you could perhaps offer up some ideas and see how much interest you get before committing. Hope that makes sense – ask me if you want clarification.
The only thing for Tangomania I would like improved is to make it clear whether partner changes are happening or not or whether you need to (when enrolling as a single) match up with another person to work with for a class – it was a little confusing what the policy on this was.
Great effort to everyone involved – my sincere thanks.

Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone who organized Tangomania. It was my first ‘workshop series’ and (besides the sore feet) feel more inspired about my tango than I have for a while. I particularly enjoyed the different techniques – the importance of core body strength, the emphasis on how energy moves between the two of us, and the exercises that helped me (us) connect. We had some great tips about how to embrace!! It made a big difference. Now to put it all into action … see you at the practicas
