Do you remember the first time you attended an Argentine Tango class? Or your first evening at a milonga?
Whether it was just last month, or a couple of years ago, do you remember what it was that helped you to keep coming? Did you just become entranced by the music, or our fabulous door gal Claire? Did you find the funky shoes too much fun, or was it the free entry at the Banque that was impossible to resist..or heck, maybe it was the dancing?
In short, what helped you to move past your first experiences in tango to continue learning and dancing? Also, what do you think the committee, as well as the community at large, could do more of (or differently) to encourage beginner tango dancers to continue?

At the beginning, I was blind and that was great. Now I am not. Just kiddind! :)Well, how can I describe this? I think we live on rationed food. But it’s OK, apples can taste like strawberries if you want to.

Any hoo…For me the music didn’t capture my imagination immediately – that took some time, but I think I went about it the wrong way, just listening to anything I could get my hands on rather than researching it…
For me it was definitely the people, I had a good time hanging out with some of the many people still in the Adelaide tango community – Ady, Andrew, Mark, Tiz, Bob, Pat etc. (don’t be offended if you’re name’s not listed, there’s just too many).
To enable this interaction you require events and Siempre has done a lot to foster the milonga and practica environment. Getting beginners straight into the milonga is always a challenge – but the social network needs to be created at the lesson first.
Drinks at the pub after practica seems to really work in that regard.
