Yann Tiersen in Adelaide

I’m just putting this back at the top of the articles list because, not only has Mike L found more specific times for when you can head to the festival to see & hear Yann Tiersen (see the comments below)..he also gave away the info that HE will be on stage singing and performing with his French group on the Saturday afternoon. Do you need any more reason to go??! Break a leg Mike, hope it goes well. :)

Not sure who Yann Tiersen is? You would recognise some of his music as it is occasionally played at milongas – he wrote the soundtrack for the movie Amelie. He will be performing alongside other performers at the French Festival on November 25-26 at Carrick Hill, tickets $20 per adult.

Contacts, aahhhh, I will never betray my contacts! (Posters in music store windows always help too…) ;)

The French Festival website still has no program details on it, but the Alliance Francaise says that Tiersen will be performing on the Saturday night and late Sunday afternoon.

Er, regarding Megan’s comment about my ‘French group’, please note that it’s NOT ‘French jazz band’ or ‘French folk music group’ or even ‘French early music ensemble’. It’s my French class which gives me a cheap ticket if I sing rude beer songs with them. Vraiment. If I recognise anyone in the audience I’ll prolly just run away. So just come for Yann Tiersen later in the day. Please.

Awww, come on Mike, don’t be so modest! Jimmy Barnes made a fortune singing drunken beer songs, and you dance much better than him, pro’lly sing better too…! :)
